College Civics Week. Materials from a packet distrubuted to visitors during Civics Week at WSU Vancouver. Washington's Secretary of State, Sam Reed, and Oregon's Secretary of State, Kate Brown, took part in this weeklong event to visit colleges in the region to encourage civic engagement among young people. The packet includes the goals and description of Civics Week, a release from Sam Reed's office, a campus press release and local article as well as materials higlights facts about WSU Vancouver and the Public Affairs program. 8 items., 2009

The documents contain strategies for marketing and advertising in the early years (1989-1995) of the WSU Vancouver campus. The focus includes developing community partnerships in Southwest Washington and advancing the university as a topic and presence in the local press. Many of the documents feature faculty expertise and the theme of teaching excellence and community commitment with the aim of recruiting students. Later documents highlight student engagement and achievements on projects in collaboration between students and faculty. The collections consist of press realeases, printed email corresponces, and memos as well as flyers and other ephemera used in advertising campaigns.
