Scope and Contents
The collection includes items compiled through the Office of the Chancellor and contains a small number of materials from the Southwest Washington Joint Center for Education with the bulk of the collection focused on campus planning over the first 15 years of WSU Vancouver's establishment. The collection also includes campus advisory council photographs from the 1990s and early records regarding usage from the Washington Higher Education Telecommunication System (WHETS). The collection contains files and correspondence from the office of Hal Dengerink, former campus Dean and Chancellor. The Date range of this collection resides between 1985 and 2012.

Biographical / Historical
Washington State University Vancouver's administrative leadership began prior to the official establishment as a branch campus in 1989. In 1988 as WSU assumed operations for the Southwest Washington Joint Center for Education (SWJCE) located on the campus of Clark College in Vancouver, Washington. George Condon, director of SWJCE, initially served as director for WSU at Vancouver. In 1989, shortly following the official opening of the branch campus, Hal Dengerink was hired as campus dean. Dengerink oversaw the next two decades of leadership, expanding undergraduate curriculum, moving campus operations to Salmon Creek, launching the Science Institute and the Engineering and Computer Science program. In the mid-2000s the position of Campus Dean evolved into Chancellor. Dengerink held the position until his retirement in 2011. Lynn Valenter assumed the role of Interim Chancellor until 2012 when Emile "Mel" Netzhammer was hired as Chancellor.

Abstract
This collection contains various records, correspondence, publications and planning documents collected by the Office of the Chancellor at Washington State University Vancouver. The collection includes documents on the early history and development of the university campus. Some documents from the Southwest Washington Joint Center for Education that were retained by the Office of the Chancellor are included in this collection. The date of records range from 1985-2012. Included are copies of facilities planning and campus master plans, strategic planning, advisory council rosters and photographs, reports and reviews for accredidation, enrollment assessments, documentation on Vancouver's access to the Washington Higher Education Telecommunication System (WHETS) and correspondence from the office of Hal Dengerink, former Dean and Chancellor of WSU Vancouver from 1989-2011.
Arrangement
The collection of records is arranged by record groups in document boxes. Box 1 and Box 2 are arranged by the theme of early WSU Vancouver history from the 1980s to the 2000s. Box 3 - Box 17 are arranged in alphebetical groupings from Accreditation to Washington Higher Education Telecommunications System (WHETS). Box 18- Box 24 are arranged by record groupings related the Vancouver campus master plan, space allocation and facilities planning, enrollment, academic planning and external partnerships. The arrangement reflects a rough approximation of the original order in which the records were received.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
This collection was transferred to the Archives by the Office of the Chancellor in two separate accessions (UA-WSUV-2014-001 and UA-WSUV-2015-005).
