Graduation committee records for the years 1999-2002. The collection is primarily concerned with commencement planning at the WSU Vancouver campus. Includes rosters with the names of committee members, logistics information for parking and seating as well as agendas and meeting minutes. The collection is made up of born digital files. Original files are preserved with normalized copies for access.

Biographical / Historical

The Graduation Committee is composed of staff, faculty and administration from the WSU Vancouver campus community. The primary task of the committee is to plan annual commencement ceremonies for the campus held in May. In the early years when WSU Vancouver first moved to Salmon Creek, commencement ceremonies were held on campus. Later ceremonies were held at Sunlight Supply Amphitheater in Ridgefield, Washington. The committee appears to have been responsible for additional activities, including the 10 year anniversary of the university in Vancouver as well as a planned alumni reunion. The committee was originally under the direction of Campus Advancement, a department that was later split into the Office of Marketing and Communications and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

Abstract

The collection includes agendas and minutes from WSU Vancouver's Graduation Committee, which was assembled annually to help plan for commencement ceremonies. Other items in the collection include planning documents, evaluations, commencement scripts, campus reunuon and anniversary planning documents and thank you letters to commencement speakers. Tenth year anniversary and reunion files make up a minor portion of the overall collection. The collection also contains one audio recording from the 2001 commencement ceremony. All files in this collection are born digital and in the PDF, MP3 or XLS formats.

Arrangement

The collection includes 250 digital files, which have become part of the Archives Digital Records (DR). The files are arranged in six directories organized by commencement year. The directory folders listed as "10 year anniversary" and "reunion" contain indiviudal files. The remaining directories are dated from 1999-2002 and contain sub-directories for minutes, agendas, etc. for their respective years.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The digital files were aquired from the Office of Marketing and Communications through a transfer to the Archives and Special Collections in 2008. Files were later extracted from 3.5 inch floppy discs and saved on external drives for storage. The files were accessioned as a collections in 2020 (UA-WSUV-2020-003).
