Biographical / Historical
WSU Vancouver's College of Liberal Arts developed from a small group of programs during the early formation of the campus. These programs were under an umbrella of Undergraduate and Graduate programs that included the Humanities Division consisting of major concentrations like Digital Technology and Culture, English, History, Women's Studies and Fine Arts. In 2010 these programs merged as the College of Liberal Arts until 2012 when it merged into the College of Arts and Sciences.
From it's 2011 web site, the College of Liberal Arts describes the aim of its programs as follows:
"Though diverse in our interests, Liberal Arts faculty embrace a common set of core values, which we nurture in our students. Students in our programs are encouraged to understand multiple perspectives, to analyze data and tackle complex questions, to be creative and challenge accepted paradigms, and to communicate clearly and ethically.
The Liberal Arts are more relevant than ever in our global, diverse, and fast-changing world. Our programs provide the building blocks for success in any career and important life skills for citizens of the 21st century."
