Biographical / Historical

Campus Advancement served as the central office for information about WSU Vancouver in the formative years of the campus. It oversaw campus fundraising, event planning, internal and external communications and a host of other activities now conducted by the Office of Marketing and Communications and Development and Alumni Relations. The office split into these two separate departments at the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year. At that time, historical assests formerly held by Campus Advancement were maintained by the Office of Marketing and Communications who then deposited the CDs and DVDs in the Archives and Special Collections in 2018. The primary focus of the materials in this collection is a sample of the promotion of the WSU Vancouver campus, its significant events, and activities from the years 2000 to 2013.

Abstract

The collection of CDs and DVDs includes photographs, a multimedia presentation, and videos created or used by the Office of Campus Advancement (Office of Marketing and Communications). The materials highlight significant events including the opening of the Engineering and Life Sciences Building, the construction of the Firstenburg Fountain, Chancellor Hal Dengerink's retirement and award as First Citizen, Washington State's Governor Locke's visit to campus, and a stock of photographs used to promote events and different aspects of the campus between the years 2000 and 2013. In 2021, CD and DVD files were converted to digital surrogates for preservation. The photographs are primarily in the JPEG format with a few in TIFF format. The 2004 Self-Study consist of WORD documents. The DVD files are mostly in the VOB format with the exception of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Programs for Technology Entrepreneurs files, which are saved in the MP4 format. Please see the Conditions for Governing Access for more information on accessing collection files.
