Biographical / Historical

In 1989, Washington State University formally established a branch campus in Vancouver to expand the state's land-grant institution to Southwest Washington. For nearly seven years WSU Vancouver maintained operations at Bauer Hall on the Clark College campus, giving residents an opportunity to enroll in upper division level undergraduate courses and graduate degree programs. Hal Dengerink became the WSU Vancouver Campus Dean (later Chancellor) in 1989 and provided leadership in overseeing the development of the campus as it moved from Clark College to its 351 acre home in Salmon Creek. In 1994 the new campus officially broke ground and by the Summer semester in 1996, WSU Vancouver held its first classes at the Salmon Creek. In 2006, WSU Vancouver began offering lower-division level courses and officially became a the first four-year university to operate in Southwest Washington.

The videos in this collection documents some notable firsts and early promotional activities of WSU Vancouver, highlighting community engagement, newsworthy events, and campaigns.
