Scope and Contents
The collection includes video recordings associated with Gay V. Selby's memorial Service, which was held in the lecture hall of the Dengerink Administrative Building (VDEN) on July 19, 2025. The collection contains a recording of the memorial service as well as two supporting videos played during the service. The memorial service features reflections from friends and family about Selby's life as well as words from Jennifer Miltenberger, WSU Vancouver's Associate Vice President for Development, and Mel Netzhammer, WSU Vancouver's second Chancellor who speak about Selby's incredible support and love for WSU. One of the videos includes quotes from and about Gay Selby, most of which support the importance of education and leadership. Also included is a tribute video documenting Selby's life, featuring friends, family, and colleagues from WSU. The collection also has a transcript from the memorial service.

Biographical / Historical
Dr. Gay V. Selby (December 19, 1941 - July 7, 2025) was a foundational leader and supporter of Washington State University Vancouver, shaping the institution’s identity from its inception in 1989 through her multifaceted service as an administrator, faculty member, and philanthropist. A visionary leader, she served on the committee that selected the Salmon Creek campus site and became the first chair of the WSU Vancouver Advisory Council. Following a distinguished career as a K-12 superintendent, she joined WSU faculty in 1994 as a clinical professor in the College of Education, where she coordinated the Educational Leadership and principal certification programs. Over her tenure, she mentored more than 200 alumni who rose to leadership roles across the state. In 2019, the university honored her legacy by renaming the Tower Room in the Dengerink Administration Building in her honor. A dedicated "Legacy Donor" for over 25 years, she established the George Brain-Gay Selby Faculty Research Award and received the 2016 Faculty/Staff Outstanding Volunteer Service Award, cementing her status as a lifelong champion for public education and academic excellence.
