Scope and Contents

The collection contains documentation pertaining to the development and history of WSU Vancouver and the WSU Vancouver Library from the early 1990's. Contents include early WSU Vancouver history and the formation and operations of Vancouver Information Services. Dates of materials extend from the early 1990s to 2011.

Biographical / Historical

The Library was established shortly after Washington State University was authorized to build a branch campus in Vancouver in 1989. For a time, library services were maintain at that Clark College Cannell Library as part of an agreement to share resources between campuses. Extended campus library services were also provided by WSU Libraries in Pullman. In 1991, WSU Vancouver hired its first director, Gretta Siegel, and aquired space for the library following a remodel of Bauer Hall on the Clark College Campus. Following a campus reorganization in 1995, Leslie Wykoff was hired as director for Vancouver Information Services (VIS), which included the Library, Information Technology (IT) and Washington Higher Education Telecommunications System (WHETS). The following summer WSU Vancouver moved to its new campus in Salmon Creek where the library established its services on the first floor of the Library Building. Vancouver Information Services reverted to separate departments in 2009. In 2011, Leslie Wykroff retired as the library's director.

Abstract

The collection contains records from the WSU Vancouver Library Director's office. The date range begins in the early 1990s and continues to 2011. The records document library services and planning under the direction of Gretta Siegel (first Director) and Leslie Wykoff (proceeding Director). The collection includes Vancouver Information Services files, documentation on campus development, library development and history, strategic planning, general items and initiatives. Accessioned as WSUV-2015-007.
