Scope and Contents
The contents include newspapers, newspaper clippings, and magazines ranging in date of publication from 1929 to 2001. The bulk of the collection contains newspapers headlining significant national and international events including World War II and the September 11 attacks. Materials are all from the United States ranging from local to national publishers.

Biographical / Historical
The Historic Newspapers Collection was originally established as an informal collection of newspapers accumulated by the WSU Vancouver Library. The newspapers were donated to the library from multiple sources and highlight key regional, state, local, national, and international events from the 20th century and 21st century. The newspapers are generally used for research and exhibition.

Abstract
This collection contains a number of newspapers as well as magazines ranging in date from 1929 - 2004. The newspapers document a number of historical events including World War II, the John F. Kennedy Assasination, the eruption of Mt. St. Helens, the Chicago Worlds fair, as well as a number of local and regional events. The condition of the newspapers vary and they are meant for research purposes only. Consult with archivist if needed for display.

The collection is arranged by series based on the publication, date, and historic context of the newspaper.
Series A: John F. Kennedy Assassination: This series contains historical newspapers regarding the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Series B: September 11 attacks: This series includes newspapers headlining the 2001, September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center.
Series C: Mount St. Helens: This series includes historic newspapers featuring the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption and disaster aftermath.
Series D: Seattle Worlds Fair: Historic newspapers featuring the 1962 World's Fair held in Seattle. Also known as the Century 21 Exposition.
Series E: Chicago News: This series includes newspapers about the 1933 Chicago World's Fair and the 1929 Graf Zeppelin
blimp.
Series F: World War II: This series includes historic newspapers from the United States during World War II.
Series G: Politics: Historic newspapers featuring headlines of global and national politics.
Series H: Disasters: Historic newspapers about natural disasters and man-made catastrophes.
Series I: Local News: This series includes historic newspapers featuring local news from the Pacific Northwest region.
This includes the state of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
Series J: Miscellaneous.
