Abstract

Documents and correspondence created and compiled by Dr. George A. Condon during his career as the director for the Southwest Washington Joint Center for Education and Washington State University at Vancouver from 1985 to 1989. The collection includes items created later in Condon's career including some emails and an oral history interview that discusses his time at the Joint Center. The collection is accessioned under WSUV.2013.007.

The materials in this collection consist of surrogates of records compiled and produced by Lynn Degerstedt, first director of the Southwest Washington Joint Center for Education, serving from ca. 1983 until his departure in 1987. The materials in this collection document the assessment of needs for higher education in Southwest Washington, the formation of the Southwest Washington Joint Center for Education and the early history of the Washington State University Vancouver branch campus.

Abstract The collection includes 17 oral history interviews conducted in 2010 for the 20th Anniversary of WSU Vancouver. The interviewees are recognized as "Pioneers" who took part in the founding and development of WSU Vancouver. Participants include advisory council members, members from the local business community, state legislators, university administrators and others.
